Meet Our Doctors




Dr. T. James Taylor Jr.

Dr. Taylor received his B.S. in Zoology and his DVM at Iowa State University.  He also completed an internship at the University of Saskatchewan before becoming a medical staff at the University of Saskatchewan College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member and small animal program chair for the IVMA, has served as treasurer and secretary for the Midwest Small Animal Association, belongs to the the Lions Club, is involved in Boy Scouting, and is involved with many aspects of the ministry at First Christian Church.  Dr. Taylor has a special interest in orthopedic surgery.  He lives with his wife and their dog, Cassie.


Dr. Chad Smith

Dr. Smith graduated with his B.S. in Animal Science from Iowa State University in 1996 and received his DVM from Iowa State University in 2000.  Previous to joining us at Taylor Veterinary Hospital, he was a general practitioner at Ottumwa Veterinary Cinic in Ottumwa, Iowa.
He belongs to the AVMA and IVMA, is an active member of Orchard Hill Church, and has a special interest in behavioral medicine/therapy.  He and his wife, have three children and three cats, Ebony, Tiger and Stormy. 


Dr. Elizabeth Bixby

Dr. Bixby received her undergraduate education at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky before receiving her DVM at Iowa State University. She belongs to the AVMA, IVMA, AAVA, is an active member of St. Paul's Church in Waverly, and has a special interest in Veterinary Acupuncture.  She lives in the country with her husband, five children, two ponies, Ruby and Shadow, Maisy the dog and multiple farm cats.
